Partners in a project focused on reducing carbon dioxide in the agriculture and food sector met in Vilnius

At the end of September, a partner meeting for the international Erasmus+ project CARBODIGIPARD took place at the National Paying Agency (NPA) in Vilnius. The meeting focused on evaluating the project's implementation progress, discussing future activities, and sharing experiences regarding the reduction of the carbon footprint in agricultural operations.

During the meeting, partners reviewed the work accomplished in developing artificial intelligence-based carbon footprint maps and methodologies for assessing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as well as planned training initiatives and carbon footprint monitoring activities. Particular attention was given to the practical application of these tools within enterprises in the agriculture and food sector.

Representatives from the NPA presented investment measures and eco-schemes from Lithuania’s Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Rural Development 2023–2027 that contribute to GHG reduction, as well as opportunities for carbon sequestration certification. Presentations by Lithuanian institutions and other experts covered current developments in European Union climate policy, GHG accounting methodologies, and sustainability initiatives being implemented in Lithuania.

During visits to the companies Akvapona and LEAFOOD, project partners explored innovative production solutions, as well as practices for efficient resource use and the mitigation of environmental impact. The meeting provided an opportunity to share experiences, discuss the next steps in the project’s implementation, and strengthen cooperation aimed at fostering more sustainable, climate-friendly investments in agriculture.
