OASIS: Using Satellite Data to Tackle Challenges in Agriculture and Public Sector Services

On 31 July, 2025, the stakeholder workshop will take place in Riga, Latvia, as part of the OASIS project. The international project OASIS, Optimising Access to Services through Integrated EO and AI Solutions for Innovative Societies, funded by the Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021–2027, is implemented by the National Paying Agency (NPA) in Lithuania (Lead Partner) and the Rural Support Service (RSS) in Latvia.

The OASIS project aims to ease the administrative burden of agricultural support, reduce the need for on-site inspections, and introduce advanced digital solutions based on Earth Observation (satellite) data and artificial intelligence (AI).

On 31 July the OASIS project workshop will focus on presenting and discussing the digital solutions being developed within the project. This will be a hybrid meeting, so the participants will also be able to join remotely via Zoom. The event will be held in English.

Why OASIS?

Farmers and agricultural institutions are increasingly facing challenges related to large data volumes, frequent on-site checks, and repetitive administrative tasks. The OASIS project addresses these by offering:

  • Open-access satellite data (e.g., Sentinel-2) as an alternative to physical field inspections,
  • AI-based tools for crop classification and detection of abandoned land,
  • Practical solutions tailored to both farmers and public sector users – simple, clear, and efficient.

About the 31 July workshop

This stakeholder workshop is dedicated to the demonstration, testing, and discussion of the solutions being developed under OASIS project. During the event, the participants will:

  • See live presentations of tools and services being developed;
  • Discuss possible real-life use cases (e.g., farmer declarations, eligibility verification);
  • Share feedback to ensure the proposed solutions are practical and ready to use.

Who should attend?
Farmers, representatives of agricultural  and environmental institutions, land management services, municipalities, higher education and research institutions, business support organisations, and public authorities working with spatial or satellite data.

Date: 31 July 2025, 11:00 – 13:30 (EET)

Help shape these solutions – respond to the questionnaire

In preparation for the workshop, we invite farmers and stakeholders (institutions, municipalities, associations, etc.) to complete short questionnaires. Your answers will help us better understand the needs in the field and ensure that the solutions we develop are useful and practical.
