Lithuania won the EU Twinning project in Serbia
The National Paying Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture (NPA) received good news – Lithuania, together with other two European Union Member States (EU MS), won the EU Twinning Project in Serbia.
On 25 January 2022, the Serbian Ministry of Finance, responsible for coordination of the EU Twinning projects, informed that Lithuania, together with Poland and France, won the EU Twinning project in Serbia "Strengthening and adaptation of administrative capacities for the introduction of the Organisation of Agricultural Markets".
Lithuania as the junior project leader in the consortium, comprising Poland, Lithuania and France, will be represented by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania and the NPA. France, represented in the project by the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Food and one of the paying agencies (FranceAgriMer), will also be the junior project leader. The Polish Paying Agency (ARIMR) will act as the project leader.
The main objectives of this project are to strengthen the capacity of the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, ensuring the growth of agricultural production and the stability of producers' income and competitiveness, adapting to the requirements of domestic and foreign markets, promoting introduction of technical and technological progress in the agricultural sector of Serbia.
Lithuania will be responsible for implementation of two components of this Twinning project: strengthening animal products sector in Serbia in line with the requirements of the Common Organisation of Markets (CMO) and the CMO 'horizontal' policy – enabling the smooth functioning of market interventions and trade mechanisms in Serbia in line with EU acquis.
The project is scheduled to start in April 2022. The duration of the project – two years.
